The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) METRA Transit Voucher allows employees to use pre-tax dollars for commuting expenses for transportation anywhere on the METRA, CTA, Pace, South Shore Railroad, certain Amtrak routes or vanpools. RTA Transit Checks may be purchased in any denomination from $10 to $230.
This benefit assists employees by:
- Relieving the PAIN of High Gas Prices
- Eliminating Traffic & Parking Hassles
- Increasing the Cost Savings for Transit
All payroll deductions are pre-tax and the amount elected will be deducted from the first payroll check of each month. Your RTA Transit Check will be delivered to your College Human Resources Administrator and distributed to you for the purchase of your next month’s pass transportation needs. District Office employees will be notified via email.
Maximum Allowed Per Month
The maximum amount allowed by the IRS for pre-tax commuting expenses is $230 per month. If you also participate in the CTA Chicago Card Plus Program, your combined RTA & CTA total deductions cannot exceed $230 monthly.
