Each of the six Washburne Culinary Institute incubator kitchens is equipped with a Montague eight-burner range with an oven, a convection oven and a deep fryer. The arrangement includes shared use of a gas grill, tilt skillets and stock pots, a Hobart mixer, steam kettles, a three-compartment sink, a Hobart slicer, ice machines, a walk-in cooler and two stainless steel work tables. The rental fee includes pest control and dumpster pick up. Clients are expected to have their own business insurance and appropriate sanitation and shared kitchen licensing.
About Washburne Culinary Institute
WCI, owned by the City Colleges of Chicago, is the most affordable culinary program in the city. It offers certificate and associate-degree programs that give students the skills required for employment in Chicago’s food service and hospitality industries. Its 150,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility at Kennedy-King College features culinary kitchens, baking and pastry kitchens, classrooms, a demonstration theater, a full-service restaurant and a bakery/café. In addition to these and the incubator kitchens, WCI owns and operates the Parrot Cage Restaurant at the South Shore Cultural Center.
