Boosting Students' News Literacy

Boosting Students' News Literacy

10/29/2012 12:00 AM

City Colleges faculty from a wide variety of disciplines gathered at Kennedy-King College for a one-day professional development conference to discuss strategies for integrating news, information and digital literacy curricula into their courses. Part of a $200,000, two-year grant awarded to CCC by the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, the conference featured a panel of locally and nationally recognized journalists who addressed the importance of empowering students through news literacy so they become civically engaged and informed citizens. As part of the conference, faculty collaborated to build learning modules around news literacy. Learn more about CCC’s grant here.
