President - Dr. Anthony E. Munroe
Dr. Anthony E. Munroe is a nationally recognized executive with nearly twenty-five years of experience leading urban healthcare and health education institutions.
Most recently, Dr. Munroe served as Executive Administrator of the Ross University School of Medicine Bahamas Campus and as Associate Vice President of Health Systems Affairs and Associate Dean of Clinical Network Operations at Ross University School of Medicine (NJ). For the last four years, he has operated as CEO of his own management consulting firm, providing leadership counsel to healthcare organizations in the areas of strategy, leadership development, and change management.
Dr. Munroe is uniquely qualified to understand the challenges that many City Colleges students face along their paths to success. He was a non-traditional, adult student who worked full-time while pursuing his college education. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Regents College, and went on to earn an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, a Masters of Public Health – Health Policy & Management from Columbia University in New York and a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Health Education from Columbia University -Teacher’s College, New York, NY.
Previously, he served as President of Advocate Trinity Hospital in Chicago, a full-service, community focused hospital with a staff of 1,000 full-time employees. Under Dr. Munroe’s leadership, Advocate Trinity Hospital became the fastest growing hospital in the Advocate health system, and significantly improved its financial, clinical, patient safety and service performance. As the head of a hospital in transition, he focused on transforming the patient experience with quality care and service excellence, creating public health programs that would improve the community health status, and resolving operational inefficiencies through excellent teamwork, empowering employees and modeling service excellence.
He has held positions as President of the St. John Detroit Riverview Hospital & St. John Conner Creek, President & CEO of the Economic Opportunity Family Health Center (FL), and Director of Community Health Promotion at the DeKalb County Board of Health (GA). As Executive Director of Family Health Services for the New York City Department of Health, Dr. Munroe provided strategic, financial, and operational direction to the Department of Health’s largest commission, a $200+ million organization with 110+ service sites and 1.2 million clinic visits.
He has presented internationally and throughout the United States on cultural competency in healthcare and healthcare delivery organizations. He is currently a Faculty member in the Northwestern University School of Continuing Education and a Fulbright Senior Specialist at the Council for International Scholar Exchange, and previously was a Public Health Fellow at the Kellogg Foundation and United States Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
