Financial Aid Disbursements

City Colleges has begun processing student financial aid disbursements for the Spring semester. We want to be sure you know when you can expect to receive your refund.  The chart below outlines the timeline for the first and second Spring refunds, depending on whether students receive their refund by mail or direct deposit.

Spring 2016 Financial Aid Refund Timeline

FIRST SPRING DISBURSEMENT (February/March 2016)

If you selected refund by direct deposit

By March 19th, assuming all student financial aid application and verification requirements have been met

If you selected refund by check

By March 31st, assuming all student financial aid application and verification requirements have been met

SECOND SPRING DISBURSEMENT (March/April 2016)

If you selected refund by direct deposit

By April 16th, assuming all student financial aid application and verification requirements have been met

If you selected refund by check

By April 28st, assuming all student financial aid application and verification requirements have been met

Some important things to note:

1. Your tuition and book purchase amounts are deducted from the first disbursement each semester. If you have more than enough financial aid (grants and/or student loans) to cover the cost of your tuition and book purchases, the remaining funds will be generated to you as a credit balance refund. You can use these funds to cover some of your living expenses, or any other educational expenses you may encounter.

If you were eligible for a MAP grant, but won't be receiving one due to the state budget impasse, this may mean that all or most of your financial aid will be applied to your tuition first and you may not receive a refund of left over monies to use for living expenses.

2. There are two ways of obtaining your refund:

--Direct Deposit

--Paper Check

We strongly encourage you to set up direct deposit, which will reduce the amount of time it takes for you to receive your refund, as well as eliminate any issues with your check being mailed to the incorrect address.
