Register for Adult Education Classes

Visit the Adult Education Office (Main Campus) during the following hours to get started with the pre-registration process*.​ ​ ​

​Monday - Thursday ​9:00am - 6:00pm
​Friday ​9:00am - 12:00pm
​Saturday ​9:00am - 12:00pm
 
*includes completing an intake card.  May also include placement testing if testing is occurring on that particular day.

Registration Process

  1. Fill out a registration card in Room 135  (Larry McKeon Building)
  2. ---Hours: Monday -Thursday 9:00 am - 6:30 pm  & Friday 9am-12pm
    ---Please bring proof that you live in Illinois*
  3. Take a placement test  

  4. ---GED® in English: take the TABE test in Room 136 (Please bring picture ID)
    ---ESL, Citizenship, and GED® in Spanish - get a testing appointment in Room 2424
     
  5. Register
  6. ---Get a registration and orientation appointment in Room 2424 (main campus building)
     

Required Documents - Proof of residency - accepted documents:

  • State of Illinois I.D. or driver's license
  • Matricula Consular
  • US Mail

Adult Education Classes

  • English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • Adult Basic Education classes (ABE) to develop reading and math skills
  • GED® preparation classes (classroom instruction and online)
  • Workforce preparation and Healthcare Bridge Classes
  • Citizenship classes
 

Prerequisites

  • Students must live in Illinois and show proof of residency.
  • Students do NOT need a social security number.
  • Students must be at least 18 years old in order to enroll in adult education classes. However, 16 and 17 year-olds may register with an official release letter certifying that they are no longer attending high school.
  • Students who have F1, F2, H1, J1, or J2 visas are not eligible to enroll in adult education classes, nor are students who are short-term visitors to the U.S.

Cost

​Adult Education classes are free according to the rules of the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB).
