TRUstart

The goal of TruStart is to enhance the new student experience by providing guidance and assistance to students making academic, personal, and social adjustments to college life. TruStart provides new students with the opportunity to meet classmates, explore campus resources and learn about life as a Falcon.


TRUStart Orientation Itinerary – Friday, August 16, 2013      

The TRUStart Orientation will begin at 1:00 PM with welcome remarks from Harry S Truman College leaders and consist of drop-in style workshops and activities that are scheduled to take place until 4:00 PM.  The itinerary of events is listed below:      

        

12:00 PM        Student Services Fair / Faculty Meet & Greet / Campus Tours       

Participants visit information tables on student services and involvement opportunities, meet faculty and enjoy free refreshments.  Student can also receiver a tour.  Students receive their free planner at the Student Services Fair.      

        

1:00 PM          Welcome

                        Marilyn Dement – Dean of Student Services

Student Involvement Panel  

Interested in joining a club?  Want to make a change on campus?  Are you curious about the role of the Student Government Association at Harry S Truman College?  Learn about involvement opportunities and athletics at Harry S Truman College by meeting the students who lead them.  This small group discussion will help you connect the many ways to get involved on campus!  

   

Tools for Success  

Learn about free student and academic support services that will help you become a successful student.  Don’t worry, we won’t lecture you.  We will have a round table discussion on this topic and play a game with prizes.  

   

Staying Safe on Campus  

Campus safety is Harry S Truman College’s number one priority.  We invite you to learn about campus safety statistics, tips on how to stay safe when traveling to and from the campus, and learn about free resources available to students.  

   

Family & Friends Orientation (Parents, Spouses, Significant Others & Friends Only)  

Did you know that friends and family have a HUGE role in a student’s educational journey?  Learn how you can help your student success at Harry S Truman College.  This breakout session will be facilitated by member of the Truman administration and faculty.
