YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

Training for instructors in the Illinois Community Violence Prevention Program Summer 2014 YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM will be provided by the Workforce Academy of the City Colleges of Chicago. Training will be provided at three locations:           

SOUTH: Daley College, 7500 S. Pulaski Rd. (Monday-Friday)          
WEST: Arturo Velasquez Institute, 2800 S. Western Ave. (Monday-Friday)          
NORTH: Lakeview Learning Center, 3310 N Clark St. (Monday-Thursday)          

At the south and west locations, you may choose between training offered in the morning (8:00 am–12:00 noon) or afternoon (1:00 pm–5:00 pm). At the north location, due to the shortened week, training will be offered from 9:00 am–3:00 pm.

Workforce Academy:                   

The Workforce Academy seeks to anticipate, identify and address the ever-changing needs of employers and their employees by designing, developing and delivering quality training programs and consulting services, which result in improved work place performance for the participating individuals, organizations, and businesses.                                          

The Workforce Academy brings workforce development training into the workplace, which helps Chicagoland businesses grow through employee development. The Academy provides companies with the solutions necessary for a successful future. We offer customized programs for incumbent and entry level workers outside of the traditional classroom experiences through innovative delivery systems and a hands-on approach.​                                  

For this purpose, the Workforce Academy is structured as a partner to provide professional and technical training in the following areas:                                               
  • Manufacturing Technology / Industrial Services (LEAN Manufacturing, OSHA Forklift Certification, Computerized Numerical Control Training, American Welding Society Certification)     
  • Healthcare (Spanish for Healthcare, Introduction to Spanish, Dynamics of Interpreting)  
  • Information Technology / Computer Applications (Cisco, Oracle, Microsoft Office, Sharepoint,​ Java, C++, C#, and other programming languages and applications) 
  • Management, Professional Development / Strategic Training (Team Building, Project Management, Supervision, Customer Service)  ​
  • Basic Skills / ESL for the Workplace (Literacy, Reading, Writing and Math)          ​​​
