The City Colleges of Chicago admission procedure for International students is as follows:
IF APPLICANT IS OVERSEAS
- Complete admission application (to be filled by applicant only)
- Notarized or true copies of academic transcripts from secondary or college institution
- A certified translation and evaluation in English of academic records
- Applicants must take the TOEFL (English as a Foreign Language) test. A minimum score of 450 or 133 computer base results is required for admittance. View College TOEFL Codes.
- Notarized I-134 affidavit of support form
- Certified Bank letter of verification. Sponsor must show a minimum of $16,000 US in his/her account. If self-sponsored, student must show a minimum of $30,000 in his/her account.
- Employment verification form. Sponsor must show a minimum of $30,000 annually.
- A $100.00 application process fee (certified check or money order).
APPLICANT TRANSFERRING FROM OTHER INSTITUTION
- Applicant must be in good standing at his or her institution
- Applicant must enroll in the next term after leaving institution
- Submit I-20 release letter from previous institution or transfer verification document for admission at the City Colleges of Chicago
- Complete admission application (to be filled out by applicant only)
- Applicant is required to take placement test. A minimum of Level 4 score is required for admittance.
- Submit official transcripts from previous institution or true copies of academic transcripts from secondary or college institution
- Copy of SEVIS I20
- Copy of passport, visa and I-94 form
- Updated notarized I-134 affidavit of support form

- Employment verification form. Sponsor must show a minimum of $30,000 annually.

APPLICANT REQUESTING FOR CHANGE OF STATUS
- Complete admission application (to be filled out by applicant only)
- Copy of passport and I-94 form
- Notarized or official copies of academic transcripts from secondary or college institution
- A certified translation and evaluation in English of academic records
- Applicant is required to take placement test. A minimum of Level 4 score is required for admittance.
- Notarized I-134 affidavit of support form.

- After I-20 form has been issued, applicant should submit the I-20, the I-539*, a $195.00 fee (money order or certified check payable to: USCIS) and other necessary document along with
- I-20 to the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS, formerly INS) for status change approval. (Note: Please allow 6 to 12 months for INS to process a change of status application.)
All international students must provide proof of health insurance or purchase health insurance through the City Colleges of Chicago at the time of registration.
When the proper documents have been submitted and approved, the International Admissions Office will issue an I-20 form to the applicant.
