Phlebotomy - Careers

Persons seeking entry-level position as phlebotomists in hospitals, medical centers, home health care centers, clinics and other healthcare delivery institutions can enroll in the Phlebotomy Program at Malcolm X College.  The phlebotomist is responsible for procuring blood specimens from patients in various settings and transporting the specimens to the laboratory. The phlebotomist is expected to be proficient in venous and skin punctures. In some instances with the physician authorization, the phlebotomist will perform arterial collection.
