19th Annual Kwanzaa Celebration Coverage Round-Up: Sun-Times, ABC TV and More

12/27/2013 12:00 AM

Malcolm X College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, is partnering with Bolozi Wazee/Shule Ya Watoto (Council of Elders) to host the 19th Annual Kwanzaa celebration at the City Colleges’ West Side Learning Center, 4624 W. Madison on December 26-27, 2013.

The two-day event features cultural presentations, music, and dance performances. It also includes a marketplace that offers students and guests the opportunity to view traditional African clothing and experience cuisines from across the continent. Each day of the celebration, the lighting of the kinara, the traditional candle holder, provides an explanation of the seven principles (“Nguzo Saba”) of Kwanzaa. This event is free and open to all.
