OIT Overview

Office of Information Technology (OIT) is a division of the district office, which is headed by The Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and The Chief Information Officer.

OIT MODEL

OIT consists of the following six departments:

Office of the Chief Information Officer

Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer is responsible for the strategic oversight of the district’s information technology. As a member of the Officers of the District, Vice Chancellor leads the district’s IT planning effort and sponsors IT initiatives. The Office of the CIO is charged to develop and manage multiyear IT projects, provide IT governance for the division, develop budgets, vendor contract compliance, develop IT policies and promote information technology best practices.

Customer Services

As primary contact for clients of OIT services, customer services works with individual users and departments to meet their needs, providing expert assistance and service management. Additional services include help desk services, quality assurance testing, training and documentation services.

Project Management Services

Provides application systems development and best practices for enterprise and unit-specific application software in support of the PeopleSoft administrative systems. Provides oversight of application version upgrade projects, implementation of new software modules and data warehouse development.

Production Application Services

Provides all of the work required to process the production systems. These services include the day-to-day batch process scheduling, table set-ups, and monitoring of the systems to ensure production is accurate and processing according to schedule. This unit is also responsible for the delivery of various reports for departments throughout the district and participates in application development projects which may include: quality assurance, production control, and release management services.

Web and Instructional Services

Provides stewardship of both academic and administrative websites and other web collaboration tools. Manages Blackboard and the library system, on-line databases and other technology related student services. Promotes the use of innovative academic technologies at the colleges.

Technology Services

Provides core infrastructure technology services to the district and colleges through a reliable, standards-based technical environment. Provides information security services, supports core enterprise infrastructure applications, including: identity management, internet services, firewall services, and productivity applications such as email and calendaring. Determine standards and best practices for infrastructure development within the district. Supports the design, operation, and management of the district data centers and communication services, including network, telephone, and wireless systems.
