The Commercial Passenger Driver: Class B certificate program is designed for students with minimum experience who are trained to operate Class B passenger and non-passenger motor vehicles. In partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the program prepares students for a Class B Commercial Driver’s License in the State of Illinois.  ​​​

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Have a valid Illinois Driver’s License
  • Have a good driving record
  • Provide a current Court-Purpose Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), which can be obtained from the Secretary of State for $12.00
  • Be able to pass an IDOT Physical and Drug Screen
  • Be able to read, write, and understand English​​​​

This course is designed for individuals with little or no commercial driving experience, this course provides the theoretical foundation to become a commercial driver. Students will learn the regulations and actual applications that governs each classification and why commercial vehicles are identified by classification. Students will obtain their Class B Commercial Driver's License Learner's Permit.

This course is designed for individuals with little or no commercial driving experience, this course provides the theoretical foundation to become a commercial driver. Through this course, students will obtain their commercial driver?s license learner?s permit. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course.
Prerequisites:Prospective students must be 21 years of age or older, posses a valid drivers license, a good driving record (demonstrated through a court ordered motor vehicle report) and pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
