Below is tuition information for all City Colleges as approved by our Board of Trustees. Contact the Business Office at your college for more information.

Residency

In-District Students

Students must live within the City of Chicago for at least 30 days before classes begin for the term.

Students who live out of district may qualify for in-district tuition if they work more than 35 hours per week in the City of Chicago. Proof of full-time employment must be shown.

Out of District Students

Students are considered out of district if they live in Illinois but outside the City of Chicago for at least 30 days before classes begin for the semester. Students may be required to show legal proof of evidence.

Out of district student wishing to pursue a program at City Colleges of Chicago that is not offered at their own district community college should see the Tuition Chargeback section.

Out of District Tuition Calculation $180.15+$79.00=$259.15 per credit hour

Out of State Students

Students who legally reside outside of Illinois are considered out-of-state students.

Out of State Tuition Calculation $229.55+$79.00=$308.55 per credit hour

Center for Distance Learning Online Courses

Except for International Students, the in-district tuition rate applies to Center for Distance Learning (CDL) courses. Students holding F-1 non-immigrant student visas are considered International Students.


Transcript Charges

  • First transcript free, unless same day service is requested.
  • $5.00 for each transcript issued after first transcript, including Continuing Education transcripts.
  • $10.00 per transcript for same day service.

Other Charges

  • $100.00 non-refundable charge for I-20 application processing for regular college-level enrollments. Upon registration, $50.00 will be credited toward tuition.
  • $40.00 per check returned for non-sufficient funds.
  • $5.00 for student I.D. card replacement.
  • $20.00 for graduation assessed at the time of application for graduation.

Tuition Policies

NSW: No Show Withdrawal

Students who do not attend the first two class sessions or the first session of a class that meets once per week, and who do not formally withdraw, will be dropped from class and issued a no-show withdrawal (NSW). No tuition will be refunded.

Tuition and Fees Obligation

Students who register for classes have a legal obligation to pay all the tuition and fees. Students are expected to pay at the time of registration, either online by using My.ccc.edu or in person at the Business Office. Partial payment options are available at some colleges.

Unpaid tuition and fees are subject to the collection procedures of the college, which may include placing holds on future registration, withholding transcripts and referral to a collection agency.

Tuition Chargebacks

Chicago Residents

Chicago Residents who wish to enroll in a program not available at any of the City Colleges of Chicago may apply for tuition assistance to attend another Illinois public community college where the desired program is offered. Non-Chicago Residents
Non-Chicago Residents who plan to enroll in a program at City Colleges of Chicago that is not offered by their community college district may apply to their community college or their high school district office for reimbursement for out-of-district tuition charged to non-Chicago residents.

Tuition Waivers

Full-time employees of the City Colleges of Chicago and their dependents may register for classes tuition-free consistent with applicable collective bargaining contract provisions for covered employees.

Part-time adult educators may register tuition-free for one course each semester.

Senior citizens may register during late registration for up to six credit hours tuition-free. Seniors are not required to apply for financial aid to receive a waiver for 6 credit hours. All applicable fees still apply.

Refunds

Tuition refunds are issued to eligible students based upon the official date of withdrawal. Students must officially inform the college they are withdrawing from a class or classes by completing a withdrawal form and having it processed both in the Registrar's Office and in the Business Office.

  • Withdrawals submitted in writing are effective according to the postmark date of the envelope.
  • Full refund of tuition and fees is granted if the college cancels a course.
