Testing Coordinator
The Testing Resources Center administers a variety of testing services to students pursuing their academic goals.
Tests Administered
- CCC Placement Test (Main Campus Only) – to evaluate incoming students’ skill levels in math, reading, and writing:
- English Placement (RTW)
- It may only be taken once per year and scores are good for two years.

- Please allow approximately 3 hours to take the English placement exam.
- The test is graded by the Olive-Harvey English faculty and scores are generally available within approximately 3-5 business days.
Monday: 9:30am – 5:00pm
Tuesday & Thursday: 9:30am – 2:00pm
Wednesday: 9:30am – 3:00pm
Friday: Appointment only
- ALEKS Placement Test
- It may be taken up to five times per year and scores are good for one year.
- The ALEKS math placement exam consists of approximately 30 questions.
- Students are not allowed to use calculators however an onscreen calculator will appear for some questions for students to use.
- The ALEKS math placement exam is scored instantly once completed.

- Language Placement Test (Main Campus Only) - for students taking their first world language course at City Colleges
- College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Exams (Offered at Olive-Harvey’s Main Campus by appointment only)
- CLEP Foreign Language Exam - students may earn credit by successfully completing a CLEP proficiency exam (Spanish and French languages)
- CLEP General Exam - students may earn credit by successfully completing proficiency exams; 33 exams in 5 subject areas are offered
- Ability to Benefit (ATB) - testing for financial aid applicants with no high school diploma
- Proctored testing for Online Learning courses (Main Campus Only)
- Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
- CASAS etests (2012)
- General Educational Development (GED) examination - Official test for adults interested in obtaining their High School Diploma or Certificate
- High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) - Official test for adults interested in obtaining their High school Diploma or Certificate
Tests Administered at Other Colleges
- HESI nursing examination
- Illinois nurse aide testing – for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students
- ATI TEAS (nursing)
- Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) examination
- Proctored exams in collaboration with other colleges/universities ($20 fee)
Accommodations for Students with Disabilities
Test Accommodations for students with disabilities are given in a manner consistent with the applicable requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act. This includes offering and administering the test in a time, place and manner that is accessible, including the provision of appropriate modifications and auxiliary aids and services.
Examples of appropriate modifications and auxiliary aids and services include a change in the length of time of examination for individuals with learning disabilities and Braille or large print examinations and answer sheets or qualified readers for individuals with visual impairments.
Accommodations must be approved by the ACCESS Center prior to test administration.
