Campus Safety and Security is available 24 hours a day to ensure a safe and secure environment for all City College students, staff members, and visitors.

In Case of Emergency

Press the Blue Button from any Security telephone to reach the Security Office. Call 911 from any CCC telephone to contact City of Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications for Police or Fire response. The Security phones are located throughout the main building. Emergency Phone Towers are located on the walkways near the parking garage.

All Hazards Campus Emergency Plan and Violence Prevention Plan​​​
Assesses the current state of preparedness at a college, proposes measures to improve preparedness, and describes the coordinated response and recovery to a range of natural and man-made occurrences. The Addendum details the emergency and evacuation responsibilities and procedures for all CCC personnel.

Homeland Security Website’s resource to prepare you for an active shooter situation.

Supportive Intervention Team
Evaluates concerns about students or employees who may be distressed, disturbed, destructive,or dangerous. Find out more or submit a Person of Concern form.

Security Drills:
Regular security procedure drills are held at each location to familiarize faculty, staff and students with emergency procedures.

Wellness Centers
Provide mental health and other social services to support personal well-being and academic success.

Policy

ID Card Policy​
All personnel who enter the building must display an official CCC ID card at all times while in the building. Photo identification cards can be obtained at the District Office Security Desk on the first floor. Lost or stolen cards must be reported immediately. The CCC ID card is the property of the City Colleges of Chicago. You may be charged for a replacement ID card.               

Sex Offender Registry Policy
Under the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act, convicted sex offenders enrolled or employed at institutions of higher education, whether on a full- or part-time basis, must register with their employer or college.​              

Evacuation Plan​​​              

​​​In the event of a fire emergency, strobe lights and horns will activate throughout the building. Where itis dangerous to remain inside, an “Evacuation Order” will be issued via the building’s intercom speakers. In either event, ALL Occupants — students, teachers, staff, contractors and visitors – must leave the building, using designated routes, or closest exit, to the designated safe location.              
              
Floor Leaders and Security Officers will direct building occupants to the nearest stairway and exit, and away from the building to the safe location. Follow the instructions of the Chicago Fire Department, Chicago Police Department, Safety & Security, Engineering and the Floor Leaders, as they guide you away from the building.               
              
When exiting the main building:              
  • Truman Middle College students will walk South on Racine
  • Child Care Lab students will walk South to the McKeon Building.
  • When exiting through the West or North-West doorways, walk West on Wilson
  • When exiting through the East or North-East doorways, walk East on Wilson.

              

When exiting the LarryMcKeon Building:              
  • When exiting through the main entrance,walk West on Sunnyside
  • When exiting through the South doorway, walk South on Clifton.

              

When exiting the Truman Tech Center Building              
  • When exiting themain entrance, walk West on Sunnyside
  • When exiting through the Gym or Theater entrances, walk South on Racine.
