The Automotive Technology program provides both fundamental and advanced education— including hands-on experience in automotive system operation, and diagnosis and repair of passenger cars, SUVs and light trucks.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
In the Automotive Technology program, you’ll learn how vehicles move and operate, giving you the knowledge and skills to keep them running smoothly. The program covers the engine and other systems, engineering, mechanics, and computer technology.
The program consists of a Basic Certificate, Advanced Certificate and Associate Degree. Eligibility for English 101 and Math 90 or 98 are required (see placement testing). High school diploma or GED
- Basic Certificate – 5 Courses (20 credit hours): AUTOTEC 101, 103, 104, 109, 209
- Advanced Certificate – 11 Courses (46 credit hours): All AUTOTEC Courses
- Associates in Applied Science – 18 Courses (66 credit hours): All AUTOTEC Courses and 7 General Education Courses

PLACEMENT TESTING
Prior to taking the placement test(s), new students must apply for admission and receive:
- A student ID number
- CCC username and password to log-in to my.ccc.edu – the student portal
This information is sent to the email address which new students provide in the online application.
New students and former students without placement scores on file are required to take a placement test before registering for classes. Students who have previously taken the placement test but whose placement scores are one or more years old are required to re-take the placement test.
Since the results of your placement test(s) will determine which course you are eligible to register for, you are encouraged to take the placement test(s) as soon as possible.
