Overview

Panther Connections is an Adult Literacy program that was established to help adult learners improve their math, reading and English-speaking skills. Our program is committed to providing a learning environment that is comfortable, safe, and nonjudgmental.

According to the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES), 21 percent of adults in the United States (about 43 million) fall into the illiterate/functionally illiterate category. Unfortunately, in Illinois, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, an estimated 2.2 million Illinois adults or 18% of our population have poor skills in reading, writing, math, or English proficiency.
