First-Year Experience: The CONNECT Program at Malcolm X College

Mission of First-Year Experience via the CONNECT Program at Malcolm X College

To aid First-Year, Transfer, and Stop-In students in their transition to MXC, to expose students to opportunities to support their growth as an adult, and to provide enriching experiences to develop their academic, personal, and professional skills. These are the core goals of our CONNECT Program:

  • CONNECT: Every student has a space to feel that they are connected to, and the goal is for students to see those connections between the academic materials and outside of the classroom.
  • Engage: Your success matters to us, and we know students who are engaged and supported are more likely to persist to complete their goals.
  • Plan: You will explore academic and personal interests, while also developing a plan to help you to balance school and personal demands.
  • Succeed: Your experience is the cornerstone of the CONNECT Program, and we are committed to ensuring that you receive the necessary skills, habits, and resources to achieve your goals.
