Links to Government agency home pages and portal pages. This is a currated list that includes sites most likely to help the college community.

Federal Government

Agingstats  agingstats.gov/index.html  — This site’s full name is Federal Interagency Forum on Aging-Related Statistics.   This portal contains links to statistics and data related to older adults.

Benefits.gov www.benefits.gov/ — Portal to guides, reports, and intelligence for U.S. companies to export their goods. The default location is Illinois. The user can change the location to any other state.

ExpectMore.gov  U.S. Office of Management and Budget and other Federal agencies. This website provides information on how Federal programs perform. Includes information about every Federal program assessed.
Export.gov www.export.gov/welcome /  — This portal helps users find Federal and state benefits for health, food, and employment.

Fuel Economy www.fueleconomy.gov This is a government website that helps consumers make informed fuel economy choices when purchasing a vehicle and helps them achieve the best fuel economy possible from the cars they own.

Influenza (Flu) www.cdc.gov/flu/index.htm –– Contect from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD).

Supreme Court of the United States  www.supremecourt.gov  — Links to current court cases,  historical cases, court rules, and news services.

U.S. Census Bureau www.census.gov/ — Portal to Census Bureau information based on demographic census data.                

U.S. House of Representatives  www.house.gov —Links to the activities of the House including committee membership, biographies, pending legislation, and if in session a live link to the floor proceedings.

U.S. Senate  www.senate.gov — Links to the activities of the Senate including committee membership, biographies, pending legislation, art, and history, and if in session a live link to the floor proceedings. There is a video archive of previous sessions.  
  

USA.gov > www.usa.gov — Portal to information from many government agencies.  Topics covered include:  About the U.S., Benefits, Grants, Loans, Consumer Issues, Disasters and Emergencies, Earth and the Environment, Education, Government Agencies and Elected Officials, Health, Housing, Jobs and Unemployment, Laws and Legal Issues, Military and Veterans, Money and Taxes, Small Business, Travel and Immigration, Voting and Elections.

White House www.whitehouse.gov  – Has tabs with links to Budget, National Security, Economy,  the Opioid Crisis, and Immigration.  Posts official White House news and reports.

Illinois State Government                

Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum  illinois.gov/alplm — The Museum and Library are managed by a state agency. The museum brings Abraham Lincoln’s life and story through immersive exhibits and displays of original artifacts.   Search Museum Library.

Agriculture, Department of illinois.gov/sites/agr Supports and advocates for Illinois; agricultural industry and provides the necessary regulatory functions to benefit consumers, agricultural industry, and natural resources.
  

Attorney General  www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov     — The Attorney General is the state’s chief legal officer and is responsible for protecting the public interest of the state and its people.        

Contoller illinoiscomptroller.gov The Comptroller maintains the state’s central financial accounts, order payments into the treasury, and issue warrants against any funds held by the treasurer.  They are the accountants for the state funds.  The treasury holds the funds; the controller disburses funds.              

General Assembly www.ilga.gov The legislative branch includes the House of Representatives and the Senate. This site includes links to member biographies, legislative schedules, bills, transcripts, acts, and rules.
 

Governor, Office of  www2.illinois.gov/gov   The governer is the chief executive office of the state charged with executing the laws of the state.

Illinois.gov   www2.illinois.gov/ This is a search screen for all Illinois government sites. One may search with keyword or topics. Linkes to states agencies are found using drop-down menus.  The bottom of the page has a Twitter feed for agency news.              

Illinois Revenue www.revenue.state.il.us Portal to pay personal and business taxes, forms, publicatoins, and information for tax professionals and local governments.

Illinois Secretary of State cyberdriveillinois.com — This site includes the 21 departments that make up this agency including the state library, state archives, driver services, and  court of claims.             

Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC)  www.isac.org ISAC offers Illinois residents a variety of grant and scholarship programs to make college more affordable.
 

State Treasurer treasurer.gov — This Office is dedicated to protecting the fiscal resources, ensuring the liquidity of all investments, and consistently producing earnings at or above industry standards. Site has links to timely financial information.     

Supreme Court   Illinoiscourts.gov/SupremeCourt — This is the highest court of appeal in the state.  This website has links to the docket, opinions, policies, rules, and news concerning the court and legal community.
  

Chicago City Government  

City of Chicago cityofchicago.org/city/en.htmlhttps://www.cityofchicago.org — Homepage for Chicago City services, programs, departments, and agencies. This portal page also links to the Municipal Code, Building Code, and Zoning  Ordinances.
