Resources for College Success Seminar Library Sessions:
1. Occupational Outlook Handbook (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) features profiles of hundreds of occupations. Information includes descriptions of the type of work involved, the work environment, educational and other required qualifications, pay, job outlook, and more.
2. CCC ProgramFinder allows you to search for specific programs/ degrees offered at the City Colleges of Chicago.
3. College Scorecard is a website from the Department of Education that allows you to search for colleges by programs/degrees offered, location, and other criteria.
4. Library.ccc.edu is the library catalog where you can search for books about colleges and careers, as well as find articles from our databases.
Additional College and Career Resources:
1. Academic Search Complete (EBSCOhost) is a good source of career articles from magazines and journals. To find an article on a particular career, use the following steps:
a. Type TI careers and TI [name of career area] into the search box. Example: TI careers and TI nursing
b. Check the Full Text box under the Limit Your Results heading
c. Click the Search button

2. Career Finder (City Colleges of Chicago) provides information on dozens of jobs in nine featured industries. Job descriptions include the type of work performed, minimum educational requirements, pay, and employment trends. Some descriptions also list the City Colleges program options that prepare for that career.
3. College Navigator is an interactive website that lets you search for colleges by major, location, and other criteria. It provides information on admission requirements, tuition, financial aid, and other college characteristics. The data is supplied by the National Center for Education Statistics, which is a division of the U.S. Department of Education.
4. Gale Virtual Reference Library is a collection
of hundreds of digital encyclopedias, many of which contain information about

5. Illinois Career Information System provides up-to-date, reliable information about careers, colleges, and employment. It offers interactive online tools to help you assess your interests, explore career options, find colleges based on instructional programs and other criteria, and learn how to do a job search.
6. Resume Workshop (Purdue Online Writing Lab) provides detailed explanations, as well step-by-step processes, for
creating an effective resume. It also maintains resume quick
tips resources and a PowerPoint slide presentation.
7. Testing & Education Reference Center offers college searches, scholarship searches, a resume builder, preparation and practice tests for college entrance and career exams, and a set of tutorials on career skills. (From off campus, log in with your CCC username and password.)
