Committee Charge

The Academic Assessment Committee is a standing subcommittee of Academic Affairs. Its primary purpose is to support student learning by ensuring that assessment processes:

  • Align with the mission of the college,
  • Address the needs of students and the community, and
  • Meet legal and regulatory requirements.

The committee:

  • Reviews all Course Student Learning Outcomes (CSLOs) and Program Student Learning Outcomes (PSLOs),
  • Approves mappings to Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (ISLOs),
  • Provides assessment training and disseminates related information, and
  • Supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of assessments.

Scope of Authority

The committee has primary responsibility for developing, implementing, and evaluating assessments in alignment with the college’s mission. Meetings are held monthly during the academic year to oversee these processes.

Membership

The Academic Assessment Committee includes the following members:

  • One administrative co-chair and one faculty co-chair
  • Six assessment coordinators
  • One Institutional Researcher representative (ex-officio)
  • One faculty representative from each academic department and one representative for disciplines not part of a department (ex-officio)
  • Two Co-Curricular Student Services representatives (ex-officio)
  • One adjunct faculty representative (ex-officio)
  • One Student Government Association representative (ex-officio)
