Committee Charge
The Academic Assessment Committee is charged with ensuring that all processes related to assessment:
- Align with the mission of the college and meet accreditation expectations.
- Address the needs of students and the community.
- Review Course Student Learning Outcomes (CSLOs) and Program Student Learning Outcomes (PSLOs).
- Map student learning outcomes to Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (ISLOs).
- Disseminate assessment resources and training.
- Support development, implementation, and evaluation of assessment processes.
Scope of Authority
The committee is responsible for managing assessment timelines, establishing procedures, overseeing tools, and supporting data-driven decision-making to enhance institutional effectiveness.
Governance and Structure
The committee adheres to practices including amendments, appeals, and succession planning, ensuring fairness and continuous improvement in assessment processes.
Team Structure
The framework adopts a team-based model for efficient and balanced operations:
- Team A: Art, Humanities, Foreign Language; Early College; College Success.
- Team B: Life Sciences; Natural Sciences; Honors Program; Phi Theta Kappa.
- Team C: English/Speech; Library; IBEW.
- Team D: Social Sciences; Behavioral Sciences.
- Team E: Manufacturing; Math; Business.
- Team F: Child Development; Computer Information Systems; Criminal Justice.
- Team X (Co-Curricular): Advising; Financial Aid; Student Services; Transfer; Registrar.

Roles in Daley Academic Assessment Committee
Assessment Chair
Manages internal assessment processes and serves as a liaison to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness/Research. Responsible for overseeing the organizational functions of the Academic Assessment Committee, including:
- Public, faculty representative of Assessment for RJDC.
- Guides overall assessment work and sets meeting agenda.
- Oversees development, distribution, and implementation of the Assessment Calendar.
- Manages project tasks related to HLC Accreditation expectations.
- Reports and advises RJDC Administration on assessment-related issues.
- Advocates for assessment resources.
- Represents and reports on Assessment Committee initiatives to Chairs’ meetings, Faculty Council, and District Assessment Team.
Deliverables:
- Coordinates writing of the annual assessment report.
- Submits the annual assessment report to the College President.
- Provides regular communications about assessment activities, findings, and recommendations.
- Oversees committee projects.
Assessment Coordinators
Work with Department Chairs and other college units designated to create Assessment Plans and Reports. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate Department Level Outcomes development to improve assessment efforts.
- Provide feedback to improve the quality of assessments.
- Facilitate departmental updates for improved teaching and learning.
Deliverables:
- Coordinate initiatives for ongoing departmental-level assessments.
- Review and offer feedback to department representatives and Chairs.
- Oversee the development of reports for end-of-year compilation.
Assessment Committee Members
Support operational aspects of assessment, acting as non-voting members. Responsibilities include:
- Attending monthly department meetings.
- Representing departments at committee meetings.
- Preparing annual Departmental Roundtable slides.
Deliverables:
- Creating and submitting RoundTable presentations.
- Assisting in disseminating assessment communications.
Department Chairs
Coordinate departmental assessment processes, including:
- Providing regular updates to Assessment Coordinators.
- Designing departmental plans aligned with timelines.
- Consulting with faculty to improve learning outcomes.
Deliverables:
- Submitting Course Level Assessment Reports.
- Maintaining an assessment calendar.
- Preparing the annual Department Chair Assessment Summary Report.
Faculty
Define and assess student learning outcomes, including:
- Preparing course-specific Assessment Plans and Outcome Reports.
- Collaborating with Chairs and Coordinators to align goals.
- Using findings to improve teaching and learning.
