Automotive Technology
Program Vision
The Truman College Automotive Technology Program aspires to be pioneers in linking the diverse students of Chicago to the national and global automotive industry and markets. We aspire to develop highly skilled, responsible, environmentally aware professionals in the automotive field.
Program Mission
As a comprehensive, ASE Education Foundation - certified automotive technology program, our propose is to provide students with the necessary educational foundation and practical experiences to pursue an entry-level career in the automotive industry.
We fulfill this mission by:
- Implementing, enforcing and upholding ASE Education Foundation standards
- Providing innovative educational program options for students seeking certificate, degree and /or four year institution transfer credits to enter the workforce or pursue continued higher education
- Supporting student-centered learning experiences and diversity in the classroom through accessibility, growth and development, retention, and graduation
Program Overview
Truman’s Automotive Technology Program consists of 11 courses. Eligibility for English 101 and Math 90 or 98 are required.
- Basic Certificate – 5 Courses: AUTOTEC 101, 103, 104, 109, 209
- Advanced Advanced Advanced Advanced Advanced Advanced Certificate – 11 Courses: All AUTOTEC Courses
- Associates in Applied Science – 18 Courses: All AUTOTEC Courses and 7 General Education Courses
WIOA Approved Program
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a federal program which provides training for people who are out of work, who need training to change career paths or whose skills need improving in order to obtain a new job. Eligible students may qualify for up to $8000.00 to be used towards tuition, fees, books, and other support services.
