Student Services at Harold Washington College provides a broad range of services to assist students in achieving their academic and life goals.

Mission Statement

 

The mission of Harold Washington College Student Services is to serve as a network of student-centered support and resources, committed to complementing quality instruction to complete a balanced 2-year, urban college experience. We offer co-curricular support to students from recruitment to graduation and transfer.
The Harold Washington College Division of Student Affairs assists students in selecting an academic pathway that aligns with their career goals, provides ongoing support through completion and graduation, offers career and transfer assistance, provides wellness and food insecurity assistance, supports student clubs and organizations, supports students’ rights and due process, and provides support for veterans, undocumented students, and students with disabilities. Departments which fall under Student affairs include: the Access Center, Advising and Transfer, Career Services, Student Activities, TRIO Student Support Services, Veterans Services, and the Wellness Center.

Services ​    ​  ​

Access Center  Establishes and provides academic accommodations and accessibility for students with documented disabilities.
Advising Provides career assessments, goal setting, academic program assignment, education planning and course selection, and career and transfer support.
CTA ​U-Pass Provides unlimited access to Chicago’s bus and rail system for students who qualify.
Student Activities Supports the Student Government Association (SGA), student clubs, groups and organizations, various honors societies, arts, culture, and more.
Students’ Rights and Responsibilities​​ Oversees the student disciplinary process to ensure effective and fair application of City Colleges of Chicago student conduct policies in support of student rights and due process.
Transfer Center Assists students in planning for a smooth transfer to a 4-y​ear college or university.
TRIO Student Support Services​ Provides individualized support for participants, including study skills tutoring, course selection advisement, FAFSA assistance, financial literacy, transfer coaching, and clinical counseling. 
Undocumented Student Services Ensures that Harold Washington College (HWC) provides you with the guidance and information you need to successfully pursue your education, and to provide faculty and staff with tools and resources to better assist you and your family.  While you may find answers to many of your questions as you navigate our website, we encourage you to reach your HWC Undocumented Student Liaison at hwc-undocuhelp@ccc.edu with your questions and comments. 
Veterans Services Provides specialized services for Veterans and military-affiliated students. ​
Wellness Center ​Provides a variety of services to support the we​ll-being of students, faculty, and staff. Including free and confidential counseling, psychological & learning evaluations, case management, referral to resources, and workshops. Wellness also hosts the Healthy Market, which is a food pantry for the campus community. 
Other Ways We Can Help​
  • Voluntary Medical Withdrawals (students experiencing medical related issues that require them to withdraw from courses) 
  • Preferred Name Change (students seeking to change their record to show their preferred name)
  • Dean of Students Conduct Report (students required to submit a conduct report for college transfer or employment purposes)
