PACC Course Development Information

On this page you will find an overview of information and resources needed to begin your course development. See the PACC Manual for details.
Course development begins with consideration of the program,
degree, and subject area to which the course will be attached. That is, the reasons why a course is being
developed are to be considered. The process varies slightly depending on the type of course being proposed.

The PACC process for Curriculum Development and Review, for each type of course is as follows:

New Courses
  1. District PACC process includes Steps 1, 2, 3 for new courses with External
Agency Review and approval (that affect only the individual College).
  2. District PACC process includes Steps 1, 2, 3 for new courses with External
Agency Review and approval (that affect and include other CCC Colleges).
  3. College PACC process includes Steps 1 and 2 for new courses that are adoptions
of active courses at other CCC colleges and External Agency Review.  Use Form 11 (individual course change) or

The differences between the District and College process

District
PACC Process

If the principal advocate is seeking IAI approval for a course, which is
district specific, then each college should submit the district
discipline-coordinated master syllabus along with a congruent instructor
syllabus for each college.  This is a
district-wide proposal and needs department/discipline input and completes the
District PACC process.

College
PACC Process

If the principal
advocate is seeking IAI approval for a course that is college specific, then
each college should submit its unique master syllabus.  This is a college proposal and needs
department/discipline input and completes the College PACC process. We
recommend that changes be reported out in Step 3 to keep people informed a
cross district.
