Automotive & Collision Technology

Professor. Kenneth McMillian M.Ed.

Department Chairperson

The Kennedy-King College Automotive department offers training in both automotive mechanical and automotive collision technologies.

At Kennedy-King College, we offer high quality automotive training at a very reasonable price. With our day and evening course offerings, you can earn an AAS degree in automotive technology, or earn basic or advanced certificates in automotive collision technology, or mechanical technology. Our students are trained on state-of-the-art diagnostic and automotive equipment which gives each student that competitive edge.

With that said, developing professionalism and sound employability and leadership skills are absolutely essential. And they are expected in the automotive industry. Further, students must work safely at all times, demonstrate initiative, display integrity, act responsibly, and show pride in workmanship and in one’s personal appearance if they want to be successful. To help students develop and attain these 21st Century Skills they will be trained, evaluated, and graded on them, in addition to the technical subject areas listed above.

Lectures: Formal class lectures are presented, and you will be notified of the schedule. Also, impromptu and informal lectures are given.

Lab/Shop Activities: Laboratory investigations that include research, measurement, problem solving, emerging technologies, tools and equipment, as well as, experimental, quality, and safety procedures are an integral part of this career and technical program/course. Laboratory investigations benefit all students by developing an understanding of the complexity and ambiguity of work, as well as the skills required to manage, operate, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment/tools used to make observations.

Our training program is NATEF/ASE certified. Our students enrolled in the collision program have the opportunity to earn I-Car training points. Our automotive training is designed to help prepare students to pass ASE certification exams. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.

So, if you enjoy working on cars and want to become an automotive and or collision technician, consider enrolling in Kennedy King College’s Automotive and Collision Training Program. The experienced automotive instructors have years of real-world mechanical and collision experience that they will use to teach you automotive and collision repair. The great thing about the program is that it can be completed, and you can earn your diploma and start a new career immediately after completing the program.

Earning your diploma or advance certificate makes you a more attractive candidate because some employers tend to prefer students who have a post-secondary education over students without such an education. This is so because employers are aware that post-secondary career training provides students with the necessary knowledge and tools to succeed as automotive and collision technicians.
