President’s Statement

From the President of KKC

Welcome to Kennedy-King College!

You have found us at an exciting time. As we prepare for our ten-year reaffirmation of accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission, we are uncovering new ways to leverage the remarkable change and transition that our institution has undergone over the last decade, turning them into opportunities for learning and growth.

The college launched its formal reaffirmation process in October 2023 with the formation of five Criterion Teams – one for each of the then five HLC Criteria for Accreditation – and a Steering Committee to guide the work of those teams and the institution as a whole. Since then, we have merged those five Criterion Teams into four, reflective of the revised HLC Criteria. Always at the vanguard, Kennedy-King College is enthusiastic about being one of the first institutions to engage the revised HLC Criteria, effective September 2025, as we construct our Assurance Argument.

In the spirit of continuous improvement, preparing for our focused visit on December 1 – 2, 2025 is an opportunity for us to reflect upon the last 10 years through a critical lens, seeking opportunities to replicate proven practices, scale promising ones, and refine our ability to serve our constituents: students, faculty, staff, and community partners. I invite you to take part in our reaffirmation process by reaching out to me at kwebb8@ccc.edu or by attending any of our upcoming forums for staff, students, and the broader community. We embrace the opportunity to hear from you.

Warmly,

Dr. Katonja Webb Walker
