Phlebotomy - Job Description

Phlebotomy technicians or Phlebotomists, are professionals who draw blood from patients. Phlebotomists are people trained to draw blood from a patient for clinical or medical testing, transfusions, donations, or research. Phlebotomists collect blood primarily by performing venipunctures, (or, for collection of minute quantities of blood, fingersticks). Phlebotomists draw blood for tests, transfusions, research, or blood donations. Some explain their work to patients and provide assistance when patients have adverse reactions after their blood is drawn. Phlebotomists can work in all kinds of medical facilities, from hospitals to private laboratories.
