Eric Strong, Retired CFD Battalion Chief/Paramedic
Program Coordinator
The Fire Service Operations degree focuses on fire suppression, prevention and general emergency response operations with a target population of college student interested who are interested in a career with the fire service and emergency services, but not yet employed by a fire department or public safety entity.
Because of the many new and evolving challenges facing fire and emergency services today, many current and future members are opting to enhance their training and experience by obtaining a formal education in fire science management. This program has been developed in collaboration with the Chicago Fire Department, the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office and follows the curriculum guidelines of the National Fire Academy. Courses are largely taught by faculty instructors that are experienced fire fighters from the Chicago Fire Department and surrounding areas.
