Residency Verification

Before you can enroll in free Adult Education classes at City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), you must show proof you live in the state of Illinois. The address on your verification documents MUST MATCH the address you provided on your online application.

To verify your Illinois residency, you need to either:

1. Submit proof through your student portal at my.ccc.edu.

  • Log in to my.ccc.edu.
  • Click on “Profile.”
  • Select “Proof of Residency Documents.” 
  • Upload one or more of the approved documents listed below to your portal. Your documents will be reviewed within 1-2 business days.

Documents must be submitted in one of the following formats: GIF, JPEG, JPG, PDF, or PNG.

OR

  1. Email your Adult Education Office.

Email a copy of one or more of the approved documents listed below to the Adult Education Office at the college where you applied to take classes:

  • Valid driver’s license with your current address 
  • State of Illinois or City of Chicago identification card with your current address 
  • Foreign Consular ID card with your current address 

 
  • Valid driver’s license with a different address than your CCC application  
  • State of Illinois or City of Chicago identification card with a different address than your CCC application 
  • Foreign Consular ID card with a different address than your CCC application
  • Valid voter registration card 
  • Copy of your current lease or mortgage statement
  • Current utility bill (from the last 60 days or less): water, electric, gas, or home phone (mobile phone bills are not accepted)
  • Current orders or a letter from Command for military service persons
  • Bank statement (dated within 90 days prior to verification)
  • Signed letter on letterhead from a homeless shelter confirming your residency in the shelter
