New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is an introduction to Truman College. You will learn about academic programs, student policies, and support services. Students may also register for classes with an Academic Advisor.

During your Orientation session you will:

·    Learn about your next steps as a new student.

·    Hear from an Admissions Specialist and Academic Advising.

·    Take a virtual tour of the campus.

Before your Orientation session:

  • Complete your free online Admission Application for Truman College. Truman is an open-access college, so all students are accepted once the required admissions steps are completed.

·    You will then receive an email from AccountManagment@ccc.edu with your temporary my.ccc.edu portal log-in information. Be sure to log-in and update your password to something you will remember. If you have questions please contact an Admissions Specialist (Zoom link: https://cccedu.zoom.us/j/6780838527).

  • Once you are able to log into the portal you can take the online placement test. Please Note: You can take the Math placement test up to 5 times. However, you can only take the English placement test once in a calendar year. So, we highly recommend you make an appointment with (https://cccedu.zoom.us/j/5266760475) the Test Prep Center to prepare. The English test is timed and you have 2.5 hours to complete it. So, make sure to be ready! If you have questions or need assistance with the placement test, please contact the Testing Center (https://cccedu.zoom.us/j/7359869151). We also provide accommodations for students taking the placement test through our Access Center or call 773-907-4725.

·    Once you have completed your placement test, you will sign up for New Student Orientation.

·    If you are interested and eligible to use financial aid, complete your FAFSA and be sure to add the Truman College code 001648. Please Note: It may be up to 5 business days for an electronic FAFSA submission, and 14 days for a paper FAFSA submissions to be visible to our financial aid office. So, do not delay!

If you have completed and will be transferring 15 credit hours from an accredited institution prior to attending Truman, you can waive the new student orientation; however, you must provide an official college transcript to the Registrar’s Office (https://cccedu.zoom.us/j/3627428704).

Do you need to take the placement test?

·    Students with a grade of "C" or better in equivalent college-level English and/or Math courses may be exempt from the placement test. Students must show proof of credits with an accredited college transcript.

·    Students with valid ACT scores (21 in Math and/or English) or AP test scores (3 or higher) may be exempt from the placement test. ACT scores are only valid for four years.

·    Students with college transcripts or valid ACT/AP scores should contact an Admissions Specialist ((Zoom link: https://cccedu.zoom.us/j/6780838527).
