The Building Energy Technologies program was created to meet a growing demand for knowledgeable workers in the building industries.

​Building Energy Technologies 

The Building Energy Technologies (BET) curriculum, comprised of six courses over a three semester time span, instructs students in the emerging technologies used in construction and operation of energy-efficient and energy-independent structures. Completion of the curriculum results in a BET certificate. Classes are taught on weeknights, utilizing instructors who are active in their fields of expertise, providing real-world experience for our students. Students who can understand and apply these concepts and technologies are likely to have the upper hand in securing well-paying and meaningful jobs in these industries during the coming years.

This curriculum is designed for the practical application of sustainability concepts on the jobsite. It begins with an introductory course to familiarize the student with technologies and programs, followed by three courses covering renewable energy and energy efficient innovations. Finally, two courses will entail in-class team projects simulating the type of design and equipment problems and optimization issues that the student will encounter in the work environment.

Weatherization Assistance Training Center

Additionally, Wright is offering workforce training in the residential building science field. Through a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, the Environmental Technology Program [ETP] staff and faculty are establishing a Weatherization Assistance Training Center expected to have state-of-the-art diagnostic and learning tools. Classes and workshops in many aspects of home energy efficiency are already offered at Wright College.
