Library Technical Assistant Why work in a library? "Discovering Barbra Streisand by listening to her albums at the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh really changed everything for me." -Billy Porter

Wilbur Wright College is the only one of the City Colleges of Chicago that offers a Basic
Certificate (BC) or Associate in Applied
Sciences (AAS) degree in Library Technology.
Each can lead to employment as a library
technician or information services assistant
in public, academic, school, and private
libraries. This program can serve as an
introduction for those new to the profession
or provide continuing education for those
seeking advancement.

Hybrid Courses

LTA courses are offered as hybrid courses.
This means that the majority of course work
is done online through CCC’s learning
management system, Brightspace. A minimum of 25% of the course meeting are to be in-person, so each
course also requires face-to-face meetings. Face-to-face meeting times are variable.

The hybrid course setting provides flexibility as to when and where students study, interact with the materials, their classmates, and their instructor. The face-to-face meetings allow for more personalized opportunities to interact with course concepts as a group.
