The Social Service department at Wilbur Wright College offers a Certificate and Associate's Degree in Gerontology, the study of human aging, and a Certificate in Nursing Home Administration.

​Mission                    

The Social Service Department prepares practitioners in
Gerontology and Nursing Home Administration to provide a variety of high
quality community-based and residential services to Older Americans so that
they may live a dignified and fulfilling life.                      

​Goal 

To prepare students in best practices in the field of
aging so that they may be employed in a wide range of careers serving the
nation’s 42 million citizens who are 65 and older.

Social and Hu​man Services​               

The field of social and human services is broadly defined, uniquely approaching the objective of meeting human needs through an interdisciplinary knowledge base, focusing on prevention as well as remediation of problems, and maintaining a commitment to improving the overall quality of life of Older Americans and the elderly. The human service profession is one which promotes improved service delivery systems by addressing not only the quality of direct services, but also by seeking to improve accessibility, accountability, and coordination among professionals and social service agencies.
