PACC Course Development

On this page you will find only information and resources needed to begin your course development.

The courses developed and reviewed in the new PACC process fall into the following general categories:

  1. Transfer courses, which are intended to transfer to four-year institutions, and include general education courses, majors courses and electives
  2. Occupational courses, which are intended to support career objectives and may or may not transfer to four-year institutions as electives.
  3. Remedial/pre-credit courses, which are not intended for transfer, but are aligned with transfer courses.

The new PACC process does not oversee courses in adult education, continuing education and basic courses.

Questions to be considered about course purpose include, but are not limited to:

  • How will the course fit within a curriculum (Is it a general education core or elective course, a non-general education elective and is it a stand-alone or sequential course?)
  • In what ways is the course unique from other courses?
  • Why is the course valuable for students?
  • What is the student population the course is expected to serve?
  • What knowledge or skills will the students gain from the course?
  • Does the course require special resources and funding?
